Divetalks with Sameh Sokar: Rebreather diving and ghost fishing projects in Egypt

Welcome to another episode of DIVETALKS, Jakub Slama chats with Sameh Sokar. Sameh is Scuba Seekers Diving Club founder, Training Director and primary SST instructor. Since having made diving his full-time occupation, he has risen to the level of GUE Instructor, SDI/TDI Instructor Trainer & Examiner as well PADI Staff Instructor and Rebreather Instructor. He is one out of eight active Egyptians Instructor trainers around the world and two Egyptian GUE instructors.

Sameh talks about the Scuba Seekers and his vision. He also believes that passion and continuous training are pivotal to give his staff a comfortable level in the water which contributes to the safety of divers, customer service and the overall environment in the club. He also explains how his personal experience with rebreathers makes this place unique for rebreather divers. He believes the increased bottom time of the closed-open circuit rebreathers opens doors for underwater exploration, marine conservation, ocean clean-ups, ghost fishing projects not only in Dahab but all around the world.

In the end, Sameh shares his experience with the CCR Liberty system, wherewith he enjoys the flexibility, redundancy, functionality and lightweight of the system. To finish it off, he gives an opinion on the rebreather diving future.
