Divetalks with Edmund Yiu: Rebreather diving in Asia, safety tips and Liberty Light experience

Edmund Yiu Rebreather Diving

Welcome to the new series DIVETALKS where we talk to divers using CCR Liberty. In the first episode, we host a Hong Kong-based diver instructor Edmund Yiu who has over 20 years of experience in recreational, technical, rebreather and cave diving. He also has been involved in dive equipment retail sale and distribution around South East Asia and China.

Edmunds explains how CCR Liberty rebreather design and its fully integrated system is reliable and gives him the control he needs during diving. He thinks there is a growing interest in rebreather diving, especially in the Asian market, and he also sees some changes in diving. Edmund identifies the attitude and basic skills as some of the qualities of a good diver and how important to give yourself time when starting diving with a rebreather. During his diving career, he experiences some of the common errors that some divers repeatedly perform.

He suggests some safety tips based on his experience, such as having enough gases and how the CCR Liberty multiple backup systems provide him confidence during diving. Edmund talks about how many divers underestimate their limits or get away with bad habits that may provoke accidents and what is best to do to avoid such behaviour right from the beginning, about the CCR Liberty Light weight system and how it fits his needs during travelling, cave diving and Asian diving overall.

Let's watch it now. 🔻
