In our #DIVETALKS series, we host Becky Kagan Schott, a 5-time Emmy award-winning underwater cameraman and photographer whose work appears on major networks including National Geographic, Discovery Channel and Red Bull.
She specializes in capturing images in extreme underwater environments including caves, under ice and deep shipwrecks, all over the world from the Arctic to the Antarctic and many exciting locations in between. Becky has been actively diving for 26 years and technical diving for 22. She has been an instructor for 2 decades and is currently an active TDI Mixed Gas CCR Instructor.
Becky explains how diving with the Liberty sidemount rebreather has improved her movement and gives her the freedom to allow her to stay longer in the water, a crucial element for her underwater photography. What she thinks about traveling with the Liberty and the overall future of the rebreather.
She believes that rebreathers, especially in technical diving, have increased in popularity by delivering long bottom times, closer encounters with marine life, and more robust technology involved in the Liberty that is attracting new younger generations. Finally, Becky gives us some useful tips on those who wants to begin with underwater filming.
